Some Things Look Like Home....

Grocery Stores as we know it in the United States don't exist here, they are more like a Super Walmart or even a Meier's store.  It's one stop shopping and it's huge.  I will have to take photos of the store and the sections to show you the vastness.

Each visit I find things that remind me of home.....or close to it....

Kraft Mayonnaise - in english and arabic.
It is real mayonnaise, most are more like miracle whip, so I'm
GLAD there is REAL mayo!

Pringles, we know them, but have
you ever seen ketchup flavor?
Very popular flavor here.....

Subway....we are in the Holy month of Ramadan Kareem.
It is the Islamic month of fasting which participating Muslims
do not eat, drink, smoke during daylight hours.  You see the
windows are covered to not show food during the day.  You
can go into some establishments and purchase food, but you
can't eat it there.
Subway had sandwiches, but not the same in selections and
offers.
  • No five dollar deal
  • Turkey bacon, no pork
  • Olives as a condiment
  • Not real mayonnaise, they use a product like Miracle Whip (yuck!!!)
  • The most popular chip flavor purchased....ketchup flavor!

Other familiar American  food chains KFC, McDonald's, Subway, Burger King.
Baskin Robbins are just a few I have seen in my exploration of the city.
A very popular, familiar stomping ground....Starbucks!
