Call to prayer....five times a day!

WHERE'S OUR DRIVER HABIB?
Habib drives our shuttle from the hotel to city locations including the mall
and other locations. When we were on our way to the Marina Mall Habib
pulled over and asked for our indulgence as there was a call to prayer.
What this means is that where ever you are in the city you pull over,
hop out at the closest mosque to go pray.  It was about ten minutes in total.
This is our pictures from the shuttle and a bonus tour Habib gave us.

Habib ran across this road to go to prayer.

Lucrecia was kidding, but nice photo op of her trying to
steal the bus.  The problem, it is stick shift and she does
not know how to drive anything but automatic!

You see men arriving and congregating outside because the
mosque is full.

The crowd begins to grow and grow.

This is Habib coming back from prayer.
He was so appreciative that we were all
relaxed about him taking this time for his faith.

To show his appreciation he gave us a little tour on our way to
mall.  We went along the Corniche, a beach front. This is the city
side of the landscape.   This is downtown Abu Dhabi, business
district. What you notice at first glance....so much construction!!!

Cranes everywhere, building high rises!

Majestic contemporary buildings....truly works of art.

King Zayed will always be known for his impact on the vision of
Abu Dhabi and his desire to make this tropical desert an oasis.
He is responsible for all the palm trees seen everywhere throughout the city.

The gulf - the water looks tropical,  almost Caribbean.

The shore along the road. From this angle you can't see the
boats, looks like a marina at home, except the water is breath
taking and so clean.

Another view of the gulf along the roadside.

Habib brought us past the Marina Mall to a museum closed during
Ramadan.  From here we look back at the city.  There was a great
breeze and the smell of fresh salt water.....a real treat to see the city
from this view.

Having fun checking out the city!

Downtown is almost panoramic!  Abu Dhabi did a great plan
of preserving the beaches and keeping enough for residents
and guests to enjoy.

Far west of the city is being developed.

Three Words:  Our own paradise!
