Happy Birthday to ME!

You turn 48 and live in the Middle East, where do you go?
Not Disney, but close Dubai!
One of the coolest things about Dubai, if you have the time....you can get around for free.
Shuttle picked us up at our hotel and their were many points of interest to stop at including
the beach, Burj Khalifa, the Emirates Mall too!
This is  the sight seeing tour of Dubai from the Dubai Mall.
We did not do this as I want to save it for when Duane is here!
It costs  20 Dirhams, or about $7.

My first impression walking in ....the ceiling. . It's mosaic
galls and suspending from the ceiling is hundreds, if not
thousands of gold stars.

In the center of the mall is a video game competition.
Grady could win some good money here!  The observation
that makes me laugh - the kids are either little 10-12, or
men in their 30's.   I'm told the teens come out at night.

Just when you thought you had
enough of the Kardashians....Kim is
coming to town October 14th and
making milk shakes for charity.
She is VERY popular here!

For all my sushi loving family and friends.  It's a rotating
restaurant.  You sit and the food comes by and you
pick it up if you want it.

Catchy name, YO! Sushi....

Close up of the sushi!
This is not on my restaurant list....EVER!

Table for two.....right by the mayonnaise, I meant
sushi....wrong movie!

Kristen can't wait to gobble it up!

Just beyond this French Restaurants doors is a wall
of water - similar in appearance to the water feature by
the John Hancock Building.

This is ever continuing art sculpture on
the water feature.  So impressive!

The Burj Khalifa Building - The tallest building
in the World!

Kristen, Me and Karen at the mall with
the Burj Khalifa behind us.

Back inside....more views of the water fall.

This gives you some scale of the divers with Kristen and
myself in the photo!

This tree could have been a prop in the original
Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory.
Why is this relevant?  It's my favorite movie!

Okay, now you have seen it all.  The woman with her
burka and abaya and the man with his dishdasha and
his gutra - best part, they're  napkin holders.
They are also available in salt and pepper shakers,
bobble heads and coffee cups.  Order soon and often
as inventory is not expected to last.....hahaha!

Interesting mural of the middle east bridging the west
and other parts of the world.  You can clearly see Chicago,
New York and Paris.

Another part of the mall had this ceiling scape...very
bright and inviting. Below it is a place where kids can
play and there is a giant key board that you run and
walk on to make music.

This gentleman does sand art and it is unbelievable!  He does
such precise work and sooooooo fast!

Headed to the aquarium....another blog coming soon!

Three words:
Becoming Mall Brat!
